Hyperbaric Therapy FAQs
What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy—or HBOT—is a safe, non-invasive treatment that involves breathing concentrated oxygen inside a pressurised chamber. The high pressure increases the amount of oxygen in the blood, which offers various health and wellness benefits.
How Does Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Work?
When you step inside our steel oxygen chambers, the air pressure is increased to the equivalent of being 4 metres under water. Simultaneously, the breathing apparatus supplies 97% oxygen into your system. This combination of pure oxygen and higher pressure increases oxygen intake at a cellular level, amplifying the body’s natural healing abilities.
How Often Should I Do Hyperbaric Therapy?
We recommend regular oxygen therapy treatments to maintain consistency and experience optimal benefits. Our therapists are always on hand to provide guidance and advice to help you maximise your treatment benefits.
What Should I Wear for HBOT?
We want you to relax and enjoy your treatment, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothing made from natural fibres.
Are There Side Effects to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
The majority of HBOT’s felt effects are overwhelmingly positive! After oxygen therapy, you will likely feel energised and calm. If undergoing HBOT for pain relief, you should notice reduced pain from the first session.
Our hyperbaric oxygen chambers are carefully monitored for safety and quality to mitigate any health risks; however, potential risks, although rare, include:
- Middle ear injuries
- Sinus issues
- Lung damage
- Temporary changes in vision
- Seizures resulting from too much oxygen
- Low blood sugar in clients with diabetes
Consult a medical professional before undergoing oxygen therapies if you have any concerns.
